The speed of a PC/Laptop depends on the kind of hardware that is being used and the software and the OS that is running the machine.

In case of 64 bit OS, the RAM can be extended till 32 GB, but that is quite unnecessary. For the current software/OS requirements a 4 GB ram should serve all the purpose.
